Here are the Memorial Day events going on in Cape Cod towns for 2019

MONDAY May 27th
Falmouth Memorial Day Parade

Parade begins at 9:45 a.m. at Falmouth Village Green on Main Street and proceeds to Memorial Lane in front of public library for ceremony.

Sandwich Memorial Day Parade

Parade sponsored by American Legion Post 188 will step off at 10 a.m. from Henry T. Wing School and continue along Main Street, with stops at several monuments for wreath-layings, ending at Sandwich Town Hall. Parade will include motorcycles, antique cars, high school bands, honor guards and police. Speakers will include state Rep. Randy Hunt, R-Sandwich.

Mashpee Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony from 10 a.m. until noon at Mashpee Community Park and Veterans Garden, at Route 130 and Great Neck Road North, will include guest speaker, music and participation by local Scout troops. Sponsored by Mashpee Memorial VFW Post 5489 and Mashpee Special Events Committee. Mashpee One-Room School House will have “School’s Open” tour and informational event immediately afterward.

Barnstable Memorial Day Parade

Annual Memorial Day parade forms at 9:30 a.m. at Centerville Public Library, Main Street, and, beginning at 10 a.m., proceeds down Main Street to Monument Square for brief program, then up Old Stage Road to Beechwood Cemetery for main program. Keynote speaker is retired Marine Corps Maj. Greg Quilty of Veterans Outreach Center.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Trust Fund Committee Annual Memorial Day Ceremony: 12:15 p.m., John F. Kennedy Memorial, Ocean Street (next to Veterans Park Beach). Ceremony will feature Cub Scouts from Pack 54, Barnstable Police Department Honor Guard and special guests. JFK

Yarmouth Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon at Yarmouth Town Hall, 1146 Route 28, South Yarmouth, will feature wishing well display for donations of coins to be placed on gravestones at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Dennis Memorial Day Parade

Parade assembles at 8:45 a.m. on Center Street, Dennisport, and steps off at 9:30 a.m., proceeding to Village Green on Hall Street. Program at 10 a.m. features speakers and music by Nathaniel H. Wixon Innovation School and Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School bands. In case of rain program will be held inside Dennis Public Library, 5 Hall St.

Harwich Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony at 9:40 a.m. at Brooks Park, Harwich Center, will feature musical performers, Harwich Scouts leading the Pledge of Allegiance and guest speaker Maj. Jeff Beatty.
Chatham: Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at World War I Memorial at the Community Center on Main Street. The procession proceeds to Oyster Pond to lay a wreath on the waters in memory of those lost at sea, then to the adjacent Korean and Vietnam Memorial, then to the Civil War Memorial at Seaview Street and Main Street for a reading of the Gettysburg Address.

Participants will include members of the Chatham VFW and American Legion, the ladies’ and men’s auxiliaries to the VFW, the Chatham Coast Guard Color Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, members of the clergy, town officials and employees and local Scout troops.

If it rains the ceremony will take place inside the community center.

Orleans Memorial Day Ceremony

Laying of wreath in water at Town Cove, at the town landing at the end of Cove Road, will be at 9:30 a.m., followed at 10 by service at Memorial Park, across from Methodist Church, at intersection of Route 28 and Main Street.

Wellfleet Memorial Day Ceremony

Participants in memorial service presented by American Legion Post 287 will assemble at 8:30 a.m. on Wellfleet Town Hall lawn, 300 Main St.; program begins at 9 a.m. Opening remarks by post Commander James Alexander and memorial address by Don Arthur. Program also features music, prayers and placing of wreath. In case of rain, the service will be at the Congregational Church.

Provincetown Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Doughboy Soldiers Monument at Town Hall on Commercial Street and feature musical selections, presentation of colors by Coast Guard Station Provincetown and guest speaker Lt. Cmdr. Frank DelRosso, chief of response for the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England
