Provincetown Lobster Pot Tree Lighting 2023
The Annual Lighting of The Provincetown Lobster Pot Tree in Lopes Square will be held Saturday November 25th, at 5:30pm.
We raise the giant buoy tree topper over 2 stories into the sky, and complete the creation of the 2019 Lobster Pot Tree with a countdown until everything is glowing with 1000’s of led lights!
Bring your friends & family. Join the singing or just bring your CHEER!
We cannot wait to see you!
Rain or Shine Free Event**
The Lobster Pot Christmas Tree is an Annual Holiday Tradition in Provincetown, MA. Local lobstermen share over 130 lobster traps for the 2 story tall, brightly decorated “Tree”. We are proud to celebrate its 15th lighting in the heart of Provincetown.
The Tree will be built by the Popko family and wonderful volunteer friends in Honor of Julian Popko (1938-2017), who created the first Tree in 2003, and built it for the town every year. His incredible light will still shine brightly!
Our first “official” lighting was in 2004, it was small, with about 20 visitors who happened to be passing by. Now the entire Lopes Sq is FULL of wonderful visitors spreading joy from near and far!
You can park for FREE on the pier this winter, but after about 4:30 or 5 you CANNOT get through Lopes square (where the event is, we close it down for safety) so you have to go around past Mojo’s to get to the pier. Keep going down commercial st until you hit the Penny Patch, then head towards the water. Youll se the pier. You can also park on the street for free I believe. check this https://www.provincetown-ma.gov/81/Parking
