Day 325 Bring Alive Sandwich History Days 2014

Bringing Alive Sandwich History will be held on  different days throughout the summer will celebrate different time periods in the history of Sandwich. The 1600’s, 1700’s , 1800’s and 1900’s will be explored via period food, music and transportation. There will be plays, reenactments, open houses, and dances.

 

Saturday June 21st 

Bringing Alive Sandwich History where the village is turned back in time to the 1700s. From 10 am-4 pm at Mill Creek Park (across from town Hall) the 1774 Yarmouth Minutemen set up camp portraying the Sandwich Militia unit demonstrating cooking, firing muskets and a small cannon and reenacting the Liberty Pole incident from 1774. 11 am-3 pm from around the Dan’l Webster/Main St. horse drawn wagon rides around the village. 2 pm Historical Geo-Cache hunt around the village, and much more.

 

Saturday July 19th 

Bringing Alive Sandwich History where the village is turned back in time to the 1800s. The Sandwich Guards of 1861 open Camp Chipman with Posting the Colors, 8 am Wing School (33 Water St.) Followed by a military drill, dress parade formation and the parade to Town Hall. 1:30 pm Drill & timed firing demonstration; 3:15 pm old time town ball game between Mudville Baseball Club & the Sandwich Guard, and much more.

 

Saturday August 23rd 

Bringing Alive Sandwich History where the village is turned back in time to the 1900s. 9:30-11 am scavenger hunt in the village with Kate Naples; 10:30-11:30 am Suffragettes around Mill Creek Park (across from Town Hall); 11 am-3 pm Cavalcade of Cars featuring autos from all of the 1900s decades w/ parade of cars beginning at the Wing School (33 Water St.); 1:30-3:30 Children’s songs & games front lawn of library (142 Main St.); 5-8 pm USO block Party (Jarves St.) and much more.
