Cape Cod Pirate Ship Hyannis MA 2024

Sharing is caring!

The Cape Cod Pirate Ship sails out of Hyannis  Take your kids on a swashbuckling adventure, they’ll be spinning yarns about for years. With tattoos and sailor vests our crew of determined mates cast off on a childhood fantasy. Each year they sail from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day!

Children between the ages of 3-10 are the perfect age for this thrillseeking, treasure hunting voyage into Hyannis Harbor. Once aboard the Sea Gypsy every child will be transformed into an official member of the Sea Gypsy Crew. With painted faces your little mate will be ready for adventure aboard our working pirate ship. The Activity is nonstop, with flags to hoist , water cannons to blast, and maps to read, there is no time for lolligagin!

Our adventures are custom designed to make your experience a safe one. Our captains are United States Coast Guard licensed, trained in First Aid and CPR. The Sea Gypsy is USCG inspected vessel equipped with lifejackets for everyone on board. The railings are lined in mesh to ensure our little mates safety. Our goal is to provide summer memories your family will treasure for a lifetime!

We have a new schedule for our voyages! Our five trips now take place at 9:25, 10:55, 12:25, 2:15, and 3:45.

When should I arrive?
We want you to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled sailing time. This leaves time for check-in, dress up and the activities on the dock prior to sailing.

What if it rains?
We sail in light rain or drizzle, but we do not sail if the Captain determines the conditions are unsafe, high winds or heavy rains. If your trip is cancelled, we will contact you to reschedule or to offer a refund.

Do we need to bring life jackets?
The Sea Gypsy VIII is a Coast Guard certified vessel so the passengers are not required to wear them while on board. The life jackets on board are for emergency purposes only. If anyone in your party wishes to wear a jacket, you are encouraged to bring your own.

Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes, we require a reservation prior to sailing. Due to Coast Guard regulations, we have a limited number of spaces, and we would hate to have you miss out.

Is there parking?
There is metered parking along Ocean Street in Hyannis . Free, on-street parking is available on Old Colony Road, which runs parallel to Ocean Street.

Are there bathrooms on board?
No, but there are public restrooms available in the Harbormaster Building on the dock, near the ship. Please use the bathrooms before you board.

Is the boat wheel chair accessible?
The general answer is no; however, we try to accommodate everyone with a handicap. Please call the office at 508-394-9100 to discuss the situation.

Is there any food or drinks on the boat?
No food or drinks are allowed on the boat except for water.

How long does the cruise last?
The adventure is approximately 90 minutes. This includes the activities on the dock and the actual sailing time. We are on the water for 70-75 minutes.

What a great afternoon for my boys ages 3.5 and 5.5. They loved every minute of the experience and the crew made the time fly. Our personal favorite were the surprises along the way… won’t give any spoilers. Definitely a must do for children while visiting Cape Cod.

A great afternoon for our family. My 5 yo is very interested in pirates and this was his special “adventure” this vacation . Our 8yo was initially not interested in going, but ended up loving it and was probably the most enthusiastic of all! From the painted on tattoos to shooting the water cannon we all had a grand time. The staff were enthusiastic and engaging. I would recommend this to anyone w/ kids 4-10yo.

Booked this for our families with 4 young kids more than a week ahead of time. We were staying about 40 minutes away. We left on time to arrive 30 mins early as recommended. Half way into our drive there, I received a call that they had a staffing issue and were canceling our boat trip. They offered to re-book us 4 hours later, but that was too long to occupy the kids in Hyannis, especially if we needed to anticipate another cancellation. They were very apologetic, but it was very short notice, and we were all very disappointed.

We booked a trip on the Pirate Adventure on Friday. We had heard it was fun but had no idea how above and beyond this is – from the tattoos before boarding to one exciting thing after another on board, this is an adventure not to be missed!

My grandson (age 3.5) ) had the time of his life !! The entire staff was so engaging; and there was never a dull moment on this ship. For days later, all my grandson wanted to do is go back on the pirate boat.
Would highly recommend this excursion. You will definitely have a great time !!
